We have five basic statements that structure the way that we live together. They are:
We believe that we should begin with the statement of faith that has held the church together for more than a thousand years.
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Jerry and his wife, Carrie, along with their four kids (Isaiah, Elijah, Taylor, and Destiny), moved to the Fox Valley with the dream of planting a church. In 2004, with a handful of friends, they launched The Well. Jerry attended Southeastern College in Lakeland, Florida, where his focus was Pastoral Studies, and Carrie has a degree in Biblical Studies from Christian Life School of Theology. Jerry and Carrie love the Lord, His Church, Chicago and all things Tri-Cities (Geneva, St. Charles and Batavia).
John and his wife, Sarah, met at Pensacola Christian College, where John felt God’s call to study Pastoral Ministries and Sarah studied Nursing. They have been married since 2005, and Sarah works as a consultant with Advocate Healthcare. They have three active boys: Micah, Joel and Samuel.
Shannon came to The Well in 2015 to serve as the Children’s Pastor. Originally from Pennsylvania, she attended American University in Washington, D.C., where she fell in love with Jesus and began to pursue ministry as a vocation. She is deeply passionate about winning kids’ hearts for Jesus, mentoring high school girls, and being a part of the local church. In her spare time, she enjoys tap dance, movies and spending time with friends.
Isaiah has called The Well his church home since his father, Jerry, first planted the church in 2004. He completed his undergraduate studies at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. He’s married to the love of his life, Ragan, and together they serve as The Well’s student pastors, pouring their hearts into the youth of the Tri-Cities. When Isaiah and Ragan aren’t hanging with Well students, they have a passion for the outdoors.
Shari and her husband, Michael, have been leading worship together since before they were married, and it is their greatest passion to know God and make Him known — especially through music. They have the joy of teaching their two amazing boys, Jaxton and Elijah, to know God and make Him known.
Walter started attending The Well in 2012 and has been working in production and music here ever since. He graduated from Judson University with a Music Business and Entrepreneurship degree, toured as a member of the band Citizen Way, then joined The Well’s staff as the Production and Creative Director in 2017. Walter has a heart to see people reached with the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ through live production and other creative means of communication.
After a couple of years in Minnesota and a short stint traveling abroad, Michael and his wife, Whitney, settled into St. Charles, Illinois, in 2009. They are blessed with four kids: Ellery, Isla, Knox and Rosalie. Throughout their time at The Well, the couple has grown to have a heart for connecting people into community through small groups. Michael loves to eat, write and plan for the next family trip. Whitney’s role as a clothing stylist blends her interest in fashion with her passion for women and leadership.
Megan and her husband, Chris, moved to Geneva with their children, Masey, Grayson, and Holden, in 2009. She joined The Well’s staff as Pastor Jerry’s assistant in 2013, and she’s found deep joy in serving in The Well’s children’s and small groups ministries. A lover of all things vintage, she can be found most weekends scouring local flea markets with a cup of coffee in hand and a dear friend close by.
Have you ever wondered how The Well got started or why we’re here? We made a mini-documentary! This is a great way to get to know us a little better.
